About the Author
His Holiness the Dalai Lama is the exiled spiritual leader of the Tibetan people. He was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 1989. He is the author of many books on Buddhism, including Transforming the Mind, The Four Noble Truths, The Art of Happiness and A Simple Path. He lives in Dharamsala, India.

Youv'e Got To Accentuate The Positive

This is the first book I've read by the Dalai Lama. It's interesting enough such that I also went on to read his Little Book of Wisdom and the autobiography: My Land and My People. Buddhism is obviously a belief that espouses many positive qualities. It's good, especially, that the Dalai Lama doesn't think that it's proper for him, or anybody else, to impose their beliefs on others. Indeed, if many other religions, governments, individuals, etc. of the world would take this one statement to heart and practice it faithfully, this, alone, would make the world a place of significant, diminished suffering for all sentient beings. As for the "mystical" beliefs of Buddhism, if you will; well, just as it is with the "mystical" beliefs of all other religions, I prefer to let the mysteries be and simply wait and see.
